Product Description
My husband and I are very passionate farmers. We first began our farming business in 1984; farming 5 to 20 acres of papayas at a time in the Puna area for 18 years. When the ring-spot virus devastated the papaya industry in 1997, we decided to move to Honomu.
The place I harvest my produce, is where my family and I live. My husband and children cultivated 32 acres of land, to grow noni, coffee, ginger and turmeric root. My husband only likes to plant fruit bearing trees, so he landscaped our property with betel nut palm trees, coconuts, mangos, banana and longan trees, to name a few.
Also, what started as a small vegetable garden to feed my family, grew abundantly with eggplant, okra and string beans. I used to harvest my vegetables almost daily, but no place sell. It became very wasteful because the perfect grade vegetables were being used to feed our animals.
I've always wanted to be a vendor at the Hilo Farmers Market and since I'm now retired, being here keeps me socially active. I've been a vendor here for over a year and have gained loyal customers very quickly.
Please stop by and visit me on Wednesdays and Saturdays. My table is very simple, but some will say that the presentation is quite "exotic". I can assure you that all my produce are 100% grown in my backyard and harvested by me personally, the day before I sell at the market. My commitment to all my customers is fresh, quality fruits and vegetables!
