Lani ko Honua Berry Farm was established in 2005. Sam Lorch was a regular at the Hilo Farmers Market for over eight years and grew poha berries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, mulberries, and thimbleberries (wild raspberry) commercially. He sold fresh picked berries when in season. Some of the other things that grew on Sam's farm included mangosteen, lychee, rambutan, mountain apple, pineapple (white), papaya, coconuts, dragonfruit, passionfruit, avocado's, figs, peppers, lemons, limes, oranges, bananas, mamaki tea, lemongrass tea, and coffee ( a Jamaican Blue Mountain variety), and a rather large organic vegetable garden.
Sam passed away in January, 2018.
